David Evans

David is a life-long VW Enthusiast who first got bitten by the bug watching the Herbie the Love Bug films as a child. His family had several VWs including a Ghia convertible, tin top camper, and a 66 and 72 Beetle. David drove a 70 Karmann Ghia coupe and 1974 Super beetle Sun Bug in high school. After attending his first VW show in the 1980's, he was all in and became a VW lifer! In the late 1980's, David worked at the legendary VW performance shop called Total Performance Buggies in Tampa, FL. This was the home of the record holding Budweiser Bug drag car. Over the years David organized many VW shows and events including the legendary Florida Bug Jam. David was co founder of the Tampa based Bay Area V-Dubs VW club that started and then helped run the Bug Jam for many years. In 1997, David created the first Herbie the Love Bug website on the internet called Herbiemania.com. David 's Herbie worked for Disney and opened the Love Bug themed hotel in January of 1999. His car also appeared in the 2005 film, Herbie Fully Loaded. David currently runs several social media pages including The Herbie the Love bug Fan club and Florida VW Shows and Events Facebook pages as well as the Dub World VW YouTube channel that showcases DIY projects and covers VW events.
